Born and raised in New Orleans, Jay Scott's artistry and music are as diverse and multifaceted as the city from which he hails.  With over a decade of experience in the music industry, Jay Scott's philosophy and perspective have evolved to reflect his growth as an artist.  From his first professional recording "Raw", in 1995 as a member of the group Face Forever on Redrum Records, to his 2003 album, "All or Nothin" as a member of the group World Famous 54th Platoon with FUBU Records, Jay Scott has experienced regional and national success, with over 400,000 albums sold nationwide, including two breaking Billboard's Top 100, "The Good Life" released in 2002 and 2003's "All or Nothin," Scott has demonstrated his undeniably extraordinary talent and commitment to continued growth within his craft and has been featured with many mainstream artists.

Jay Scott's music is not easily categorized but can best be defined as hip hop with an intricate inclusion of layers of soul and jazz.  This unique style has allowed Jay Scott to solidify himself as one of the most prolific and insightful lyricists.  Scott proclaims, "Music is food for the soul and is meant to speak to our souls and inspire greatness.  It is to be felt.  It is not to be thought about.  It can get lost in translation when too much thought is put into it."  Currently, Jay Scott attributes his many life experiences inside and outside of the music industry as a basis and catalyst for the maturity of his music as well as the responsibility for the messages his music promotes.  He embraces both success and failure and transforms each opportunity into a learning and growing experience that is exquisitely and, sometimes, painfully expressed in his music.
